Diana Gergova
Scientific interests
Diana Gergova worked mainly in the field of archaeological research of Thracian culture in the 2nd-1st millennium BC. The main focus of her research is the funeral rites, the culture of the Thracian tribes, related to the implementation and maintenance of cult practices, among which the Getaes, Bessies and others especially stand out.
She explores religious beliefs, cult practices, and migration processes. In her work, she applies interdisciplinary approaches in archaeological research.
During her active scientific activity, she made several significant archaeological discoveries, scientifically proven, which reveal new aspects of Thracian culture.
She also deals with issues related to cultural legislation and the preservation of cultural heritage
Education
- 1971 - Graduated from Sofia University "Saint Kliment Ohridski" Sofia, history and archaeology
- 1972 - 1977 - Doctoral student at the National Archaeological Institute with Museum - NAIM
- 1977 - Defended dissertation on the topic "Thracian jewelry in the Bulgarian lands during the Early Iron Age /11-6 centuries BC/
